Let's Think Mathematics mini-series

About

Let’s Think Maths: Raising Attainment Through Better Mathematical Thinking As a school leader, you want maths teaching that builds confident thinkers, not just procedural learners. Yet many pupils can follow steps without truly understanding the ideas behind them—limiting reasoning, slowing progress, and widening attainment gaps. Let’s Think Maths offers a proven, research-based way to change this. This programme helps teachers uncover why pupils struggle, not just what they struggle with. Through the four principles of Let’s Think pedagogy ◾concrete preparation, ◾cognitive conflict, ◾social construction, and ◾metacognition teachers learn how to create lessons that spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and make reasoning visible. A live demonstration lesson shows the approach in action, while guided practice and ready-to-use resources allow teachers to apply it immediately. FOR YOUR SCHOOL, THE IMPACT IS TANGIBLE: ◽Pupils become more resilient, collaborative, and capable of explaining their thinking; assessment performance strengthens; ◽Multilingual and hesitant learners gain more equitable access to challenging ideas; and ◽ Your maths team benefits from a shared, coherent framework that improves teaching quality across year groups. ◽Best of all, the programme is low-workload and high-impact—just one lesson every two weeks can significantly improve day-to-day instruction. Audience: Elementary teachers (ages 4–11) and Secondary maths teachers (ages 11–14) Duration: One-day live introductory training at your school, including live teaching; six self-paced online PD sessions with remote support; one follow-up live online two-hour webinar. Participants receive a certificate. Evidence of the impact of Let's Think approach: https://youtu.be/kra5F3eAWI8
