This course helps you to easily integrate climate education into your subject, for any year group, addressing climate change, sustainability, and the ecological crisis, using tools from Futures Thinking, aka Futures Literacy. Students want to be empowered to be problem-solvers and have conversations about real-world solutions: you want to build their wellbeing and competencies for life, academic work, and the workplace in a complex and uncertain world. By using Futures Thinking tools to integrate climate education into your subject, you will be able to connect lesson content to present-day solutions and innovators, inspiring hope and wellbeing in students through imagination in the classroom, and developing their critical thinking, creativity,y and problem-solving competencies. Through an interactive, learning-by-doing format, you’ll: - Understand how Futures Thinking supports climate education. - Explore how it strengthens key student competencies (creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving). - Identify opportunities in your curriculum to embed climate education. - Learn and apply Scanning, a core Futures Thinking method, directly in your lesson design. - Align activities with assessment goals. - Learn how to teach the scanning process to your students. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to: - Integrate climate education confidently into your subject area. - Use Scanning to connect content with present-day challenges and future-focused thinking. - Develop assessment-ready competence statements. - Facilitate student-led scanning activities.
