About

Teach mathematics in a way that changes how pupils think, not just what they remember. If you teach maths to pupils aged 4 to 14, you know the challenge of covering the curriculum while trying to reach learners with very different needs, confidence levels, and misconceptions. This course invites you to invest in an approach that helps you see how pupils think, so your everyday teaching becomes more precise, more inclusive, and more impactful. Let’s Think Maths is a research-proven pedagogy shown over decades to raise attainment across ages and ability levels. It is not a new scheme to adopt or another set of worksheets to manage. You will learn to teach one carefully designed lesson every two weeks that strengthens reasoning, reveals misconceptions, and improves learning across all your maths lessons. You will also explore the four principles of Let’s Think teaching, concrete preparation, cognitive conflict, social construction, and metacognition, and learn how to use them to make lessons more engaging, inclusive, and enjoyable, while building pupil confidence and rich classroom dialogue. The course combines theory with practice. You will take part in a live demonstration lesson, observe the approach in action through classroom videos, and receive ready-to-use lesson resources to trial immediately with your own pupils. The result is professional learning that translates directly into your classroom, without increasing workload. What you will gain ◾Deeper insight into pupils’ mathematical thinking ◾Practical tools to support mixed-ability classrooms ◾A proven approach that strengthens long-term attainment ◾Greater confidence and enjoyment in teaching maths Duration: 2 live online sessions of 2 hours each. Plus 3 self-paced online sessions Dates: Wednesday 11 February and Thursday 19 March Time: 5 to 7 pm CET (4 to 6 pm UK time) Lesson resources included for classroom use Excerpt: https://youtu.be/GX0imWo4qME Evidence of its impact: https://youtu.be/kra5F3eAWI8
