Observing before intervening with ADHD & Dysexecutive Syndrome
Understanding changes the way we look.
Observing changes the way we act.
After “It’s not a matter of willpower,”
comes an essential step:
BEFORE INTERVENING, ANALYZE.
Too often, intervention comes too quickly.
We correct.
We restate the rule.
We interpret.
But a behavior must first be:
• Observable
• Concrete
• Measurable
Not:
“He’s impossible.”
But:
“He stands up 18 times in 30 minutes.”
Then comes the real question:
WHAT PURPOSE DOES THIS SERVE FOR HIM?
• Seeking attention?
• Avoiding a task perceived as difficult?
• Sensory need?
• Attempt at self-regulation?
The function guides the intervention.
Observing without interpreting means moving from reaction to reflection.
It strengthens professional posture.
It prepares a relevant adjustment.
Today, I’m sharing Mini-Guide 2 — Observe, the second step in the series:
Understand → Observe → Adjust → Measure → Communicate
