Really knowing my students
With August approaching, I have been thinking about the new students I will be teaching this year. I know some will be excited to be back, some will be nervous, some will be shy and some confident.
been thinking about all the students we’ll be seeing again in just a few weeks. The truth is, every single one of them will need something a little different from me.
That’s one of the things I love most about teaching… and also one of the things that keeps me on my toes. No two student are ever the same, and that’s what makes teaching so interesting.
It got me thinking…
When you’re planning a lesson, what’s one difference between your students that you always try to keep in mind?
For me, it’s confidence.
I’ve learned over the years that two students can have exactly the same ability, but if one believes in themselves and the other doesn’t, they’ll need very different kinds of support.
What about you? I’d love to hear your answer. I think it’s one of those conversations that reminds us how important ir is to really know our students.
