This workshop introduces the Pluriliteracies Approach, helping students use language to think, communicate, and learn more deeply. Designed for secondary language and subject teachers, it offers practical strategies to support communication, academic writing, and conceptual understanding across disciplines. Objectives - Encourage students to speak and think like subject-matter experts. - Offer diverse modes of communication to demonstrate cognitive understanding. - Guide students in producing academic texts across various genres. - Identify genre-specific features in each discipline. - Clarify the use of language functions tied to each subject. - Make students’ thinking and self-reflection visible. - Support the shift from isolated facts to conceptual learning and knowledge transfer. - Provide a practical toolkit of adaptable activities and resources. Content - Overview of Pluriliteracies: definitions, language functions, modes of communication, data processing, and disciplinary genres. - Key research insights showing the impact of Pluriliteracies on learning. - Practical tasks: videos, analysis, reflection, and pedagogical tools. - Sharing of tested strategies and resources from real classrooms. Format: 1 full day or 2 half-day sessions Target Audience: Secondary language and subject teachers
