Student Ownership in Action gives secondary teachers practical ways to stop carrying all the cognitive load and start sharing it. You’ll use simple, high-impact routines that strengthen engagement, rigor, motivation, and self-regulation so students take real responsibility for learning. Across three live online masterclasses over six weeks, you’ll learn practical routines you can try right away to help students take more responsibility for learning. Each strategy is designed to build engagement, motivation, and accountability without adding to your workload or falling behind on content. The focus is on small shifts, real practice, lasting impact. Each session combines reflection, practical strategy, and structured experimentation between meetings. Session 1 – Making Space: Where Student Ownership Begins See ownership through a fresh lens using The Student Ownership Guide. Identify where teaching feels heavy and choose one start-of-class routine to let students take the lead. Session 2 – The Big Shift: From Spoon-Feeding to Thinking Shift cognitive work to students through discussion models, peer assessment, and feedback as dialogue. Try tested routines that invite student inquiry without losing structure. Session 3 – Make It Stick: Handling Pushback and Embedding Ownership Respond with calm confidence when students resist. Learn to use resets, reflection tools, and repeatable routines that sustain ownership all year. You will leave with plug-and-play tools: strategy sheets, planner templates, the In-Class Ownership Check, and the Reflective Snapshot Tool, and a clear plan to teach with more purpose, ease, and student engagement.
